I always time my taking down of the tree to be the evening before the bin men come along, make the interval of having the tree out there.

Some monsters even put their tree on the curb on Christmas Day afternoon

Our town has a recycling service which seems too mean, taking the tree to the nearby park district and watching it fed into a wood chipper

Monsters! I know someone who does it on Boxing Day but Xmas Day afternoon is extremely extreme.

While it’s great that the trees are recycled I’m not sure I could bear to see it being pulverised alive.

Your love for Inanimate objects is quite interesting. I remember the horse balloon that had inappropriate thoughts about you....

Very inappropriate! A Xmas tree has never looked at me that way. (I think so, anyway.)

I love a real tree, but we had a tough year in 2023 and our council has stopped doing any kind of tree collection, so that resulted in ours being dumped in our front garden until I finally took it to the tip in October. The horror on the face of the man in the tip still haunts me! I definitely think fake tree is the more responsible way to go, but I just don’t like them!

Love the home made clothes horse tree though - am properly impressed with that!

It was practically a family member by October!

I'm a real tree person through and through but also feel the heartache of getting rid of it. I postpone this feeling by keeping my tree up as long as possible, often until late January. One year it was too late for any curbside tree pick up so I had to dismember it to fit it in my green bin. I've never felt so terrible. This year I got a potted tree. Hopefully I can keep it alive for at least two Christmases.

I remember you describing your clothes horse tree on Adrift last year and, wow, it doesn't disappoint! Thanks for sharing :)

I also remember that episode. I recall Geoff said it was 'an upsetting object,' and Good Lord, he was right. That thing on the cold tile floor is so disturbing. No offense, but the first thing that springs to my mind is Christmas tree in a trap house. I'd consider introducing a vibrant, plush floor accessory—perhaps a red, soft, fluffy carpet—to infuse a touch of warmth into the space.

Haha! I can only agree.

We had a potted Xmas tree at home last year and not only did it have Xmas tree bugs which swarmed my living room then died but the tree died after about two months! I wish you better luck with yours!
