Respectfully, I must vehemently contest your proposition for the top nine 2D geometric shape hierarchy. I appreciate your point of view, but I must express my disappointment about low placement of hexagon and decagon on the list. Hexagon shape plays extremely important role in organic chemistry, crystallography and molecular geometry, and a tiny hectagon looks almost like a circle. Perhaps we can further explore and examine the underlying factors to find common ground or seek alternative solutions.
I don’t get why so many of the letters of the alphabet rhyme, it’s just there to confuse everyone… when you’re on the phone trying to say B and they reply ‘P?’, or N and M sounding exactly alike… If we renamed them we could then get rid of that annoying Alpha, Foxtrot, Bravo business… my dad says he always tells them on the phone - ‘N for nutter’
As regards even and odd numbers, I believe there are two types of people in the world. Those who must have the TV volume level set on an even number, and those who spare not a single thought if it’s left on an odd number. The latter should be viewed with suspicion of course, and the world would be a better place if all volume levels were designed to only go up or down in even increments.
Whenever I talk about this Substack, I say it's for people who have to have their TV volume on an even number. I do wonder why TV set companies persist with this odd number nonsense.
I must have learned to cut sandwiches horizontally from one or both parents. It never occurred to me anything was wrong with this method, though I wasn't a fan of the top half that had the icky, driest crust (the rest of the crust was fine). At some point I observed diagonal cuts, but one of those still has the top crust problem. For reasons unknown, I feel like diagonal cuts should be reserved for grilled cheese sandwiches. To be totally honest, I usually leave it uncut.
A few months back, the food blogger Smitten Kitchen posted on IG a sandwich cut across, and it ignited horror and debate in the comments, and even I think NYTimes article. Deb of SK had no idea of the controversy she had created either until the comments flooded in.
As for numbers, yes, even seem better for reasons that can't be explained. But, you didn't mention 1 or 8 or 0. How do you feel about those digits?
8 is great. 0 is fine. From best to worst, here's where I'd put the odd numbers: 1, 5, 3, 9 and 7. I love it that the sandwich cutting was so controversial!
As a very young child, I was told to bring sandwiches to a gathering of --basically bullies-- and my mother thought it would be lovely to make cucumber sandwiches cut into TRIANGLES. She meant well. But I was shunned for pretty much the rest of my childhood. And DUH, everyone knows even numbers are superior. 🙃

Have to agree. I would always place hexagons highly. Have always loved the fact they tessellate - so neat!
And now I know the word 'tessellate'. Very happy to reassess my previous hexagon opinions.
You disagree so beautifully that I have to agree with you.

SUCH a good point. They are many that are way too similar. Big mistake from the alphabet inventors.
A very good sketch for spelling over the phone

Very funny!
(Sorry for the delayed reaction!)
Odd numbers are great as only they can Prime Number, you have Prime Ministers, Prime Cuts . So Prime Numbers are the best
Controversial!

These children were savages! There is nothing finer than cucumber triangle sandwiches.
Parallelograms may have only made it to 9th place, but you can't argue with the fact they are the best named....surely ;-)
Oh yes of course. When I do my list of the best named 2D shapes, it will definitely be number one.
